Just read about this on osnews.com. At first I thought 'Wow, cool' - then I visited the site... I don't mean to be ungrateful/rude (well, I guess I do, sorry), but is this really going to help? The site looks really bad... Maybe whoever's in charge of it could get help from the other numerous GNOME sites that look respectable?

You're totally right. If they wanted to do a site in the tradition of spreadfirefox, it's not gonna help to have a three-column-layout-lotsa-links-and-no-bling site. I mean, even spreadfirefox is a way too techy for "the average joe".
I don't know what spreadgnome's target audience is, but something like that would probably be a better structure/design for almost every audience if you wanna advertise a desktop environment: http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/index.html

I think that the spreadgnome guys are motivated though. I mean, it's great that they (or he or she) are pulling that thing off! I'm confident that they'll listen to constructive criticism :-)
